Dundonald loft conversion

The client’s brief was to convert the loft into two additional bedrooms for his expanding family.

The project was a tricky one as the attic was a standard attic trussed roof. The existing roof structure would have to be altered and as rafter and joist sizes were inadequate, steel beams and new floor joists were required.

Access from the first floor was difficult and would need considerable changes to the existing bedroom arrangement.

Clever solutions were required to over come issues with structure, fire protection/ escape, sound, thermal and usability of the space.

Building control plan approval: October 2021
The project has started on site and completion anticipated early 2022.
